Everybody knows Bose, and I’m sure you’ve seen the Acoustimass speaker system before in stores. They like to demo them pretty much everywhere you go. But I would give my two cents on the 10 Series as it’s by far the most popular selling unit, and my favorite, as far as any home theater system goes, for movie watching especially.
The Bose Acoustimass hasn’t changed all that much in the last 10, 20 years. They’ve made minor improvements to it, but the reason being is it’s trendy and it sounds perfect. Bose figured out long ago that people love big explosions and high pitched things. If you want clarity, high-end treble and bass, the Acoustimass is perfect for that. It’s compact. It’s small. It’s minimal. It goes anywhere kind of thing. It’s not so intrusive as a lot of these systems are. And it just looks nice, and it sounds excellent. I will say the sound engineers at Bose do know their stuff. I’m so happy with how the Acoustimass Series sounds. It’s nice.
I would say while this works good for music, surprisingly good actually. You can get some very decent sounding mid-range, it’s more tailored for people who are watching movies, action movies especially. But speech sound’s exceptionally clear as well. Any movie, but explosions sound unbelievably good on the subwoofer. The subwoofer will shake your entire room. It’s good. And because of the size of the speakers, gunshots, things like that sound ultra crisp, ultra clear. It may lack just a little bit of midrange for some music, but I found it to be delightful. But really for an all-in-one system, for under $1,000, you’re not going to see a better sounding, better-looking system than the Bose 10 Series Acoustimass. It’s nice.
Anyway, if you guys have any more questions about it, feel free to leave them in the comments below. Oh, I should mention too that this one doesn’t come with a built-in amplifier. You have to use your amp with it. But it works with 99% of all amps out there. It’s only a 270-watt system, but it sounds much more like a 500-800 watt system. And those numbers can always be played with.
