Today I want to do a quick review for you on the Sony XPR-4K LED TV, the model number is XBR65X850E. Now I should mention before we get started that I found a pretty good deal on this TV, and I’ll throw a link in the description below so you guys can check that deal out.
So this is the latest 2017/2018 model of Sony’s higher-end 4K LED television set. It’s not an OLED, but you’re not going to have to worry about any types of burn-in or anything like that. OLED is a high technology, but there are some televisions out there that have burn-in issues on them, but LEDs, not a problem, and I’ll tell you right off the bat, the picture on this thing is nothing short of amazing. The XPR line from Sony has always been good, but in this 4K set, man, I tell you. It’s getting to the point where it’s like you’re looking out the window at whatever’s going on. Pretty impressive.
Another thing I like about Sonys, and this one, in particular, is that the bezels on the TV are super, super slim. To me, that gives it a little extra pop. It just makes the TV look all that more premium, and when it’s hanging on your wall or your TV stand, it just seems like you have a nice television set there, and that’s always nice.
The 120 hertz is good for sports; football, baseball, anything high motion, looks unbelievably fluid on there, and it makes a difference if you’ve never had 120-hertz set before. And it can do 120 hertz at 4K, which is pretty impressive because there aren’t many TVs that can do that.
The picture quality in Sonys is always high. I’ve never been a big Sony audio fan, but their TVs have always spot on with color calibration and things like that, and this one’s no exception. And like I said, the XPR line is their top of the line set, so the colors on this are just really, really good. Very, very accurate.
It’s worth mentioning, too, that the TV’s very thin as well, so if you are going to wall mount it, if you get a good flush mount stand or wall mount, I’m sorry, this will fit extremely close to the wall, which, in my opinion, looks even better.
The smart TV functions on this one, using android TV, which in my opinion is the best one out there, it has downloadable apps, it’ll work with Amazon videos, Netflix, YouTube, you name it, it’s got it on there. And you can also get apps to stream movies from your computers or smartphones, things like that, which is, too.
In my opinion, the X850E series is the sweet spot for price and performance as you get into the higher end ones like the X900 and the X940, you’re not getting that much more, especially as far as picture quality goes, and you’re going to pay quite a bit more. So for the price point of the 850E, I think it’s the perfect one to go with, out of the whole XPR line.
