How to Wave Someone on Facebook

If you want to start a conversation with a Facebook friend, you can get their attention by waving. Using the Facebook Messenger app, you can wave any of your friends who are active on Facebook Messenger or a friend whom you have an open conversation with. You can start a conversation or get the attention of any of your friends via waving. This article will not only help you understand how you can wave someone on Facebook but also how you can wave someone back. To wave someone on Facebook messenger, these are the steps you should follow:

Open Facebook messenger

Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your device. Tap the ‘Home’ button to ensure you are on the home screen of your Facebook account.Locate the person you want to wave. You can either do this by checking an existing conversation in the Messages section or via the active section. Either way, you will notice a gray hand on the right of the conversation (in the Messages section) or to the right of the contact list in the Active list of your friends.

Tap the gray icon. The icon will turn yellow, appear to fly out and wave at you on the screen. If you have waved a friend whom you already have started a conversation with, the gray hand icon will be replaced by a gray circle that has a checkmark. Then, you will see a message to the left notifying you that you’ve waved at that person. However, if you have waved a friend from your Active list section, the gray hand icon will turn yellow. The recipient will then receive a message that you are waving at them and they will be prompted to wave back at you. After he or she waves back at you, the message will change into an image that features two hands showing that you have waved each other.

How do you wave back at a person on Facebook Messenger?

You need to open the message you received from the person that was waving you. You will see a yellow hand that’s waving and you with a message ‘Tap to Wave Back’. When you tap the waving icon, a large yellow of waving hand will appear to the center of your screen and then settle back into a message that says you have waved each other after a few seconds.

Connect to others and make new friends!

That’s it! Now that you now how to wave someone you can use this easy but powerful tool to break the ice and start conversations with your friends old and new alike.
